Patriots and Recommending "Promises of the Constitution"

Bert and Kathy Smith are patriots of the highest degree. Bert is the Smith of Smith and Edwards, the amazing. One-of-a-kind store north of Ogden that is more fun to visit than Disneyland, and I’m not joking! I love their store! Their byline is: “We have just about everything…if we can find it!” Those words ring true when you enter their vast building to learn that they really do have just about everything!

Kathy and I were friends years ago in Layton, Utah, before her marriage to Bert. She’s actively and consistently committed to doing good, relevant things to fight for freedom and she and Bert make a solid team, working together on many important fronts. Bert has been a part of Utah’s patriot scene for decades. His famous store was born when he and Lawrence Edwards began buying army surplus at the end of World War II. Bert is also a well-known rancher in the northern Utah area, and is invested in issues that deal with agriculture in the state.

Most of what happens in Utah in a patriotic sense involves Bert and Kathy, and their opinion and approval is highly sought for. Famous people like Glenn Beck and Sheriff Mack wouldn’t think of coming to Utah without paying Bert and Kathy a visit. They organize Utah’s Freedom Conference, a highly successful Constitution day event, each year on the weekend nearest September 17, the day the U.S. Constitution was signed. The conference always features speakers from around the nation, experts in their fields, and draws hundreds of concerned Utahns to learn about liberty, their rights and duties to preserve our Constitution.

I gave Kathy a copy of Promises of the Constitution: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow shortly after it came off the press. Below is the email she wrote in reference to it.

I can’t put Pam’s book down! It’s really very, very good. It’s different. It captures the imagination of not only the beginning student, but also people like me who know our founders and our history. I am enjoying it immensely and find myself pausing at the end of each section in awe of what our Founders gave for the birth of this nation. Americans need to hear this, and hear it soon.
